Cold Weather Reminders

Please Remember To:

Set your thermostat to 65 degrees and ensure that it is set to AUTO and HEAT. DO NOT turn the furnace off. Bloomington winters can be harsh and temperatures turn quickly.

Leave the furnace fan running and set to “ON”. Leaving the furnace fan run will allow the air to circulate better in the home and help prevent pipes from freezing.

Open all cabinet doors to the plumbing below the sinks in the bathrooms and kitchens to prevent pipes from freezing. We also recommend leaving the bathroom doors open to help with heat circulation. You may consider keeping a drip in faucets that are placed on exterior walls to further protect from freezing.

Washer and dishwasher lids should be left open to help air circulate.

Make sure all hoses are disconnected from any outside faucets to prevent freezing and potential flooding.

Broken water lines can cost thousands of dollars of damage and it is your responsibility to make sure the home is ready for your absence and the cold weather. If you have any questions please contact us.

If the electricity goes out in cold weather please allow your sinks to drip water to help prevent the water lines from freezing.
